Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 24, 2026

Abyssi (“Abyssi,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) builds dive-planning software for technical and recreational divers. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through this website (abyssi.io), how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to collect as little personal information as possible.

The Abyssi app

The Abyssi iOS app does not collect personal data. All dive plans, dive logs, equipment records, and user preferences are computed and stored on your device. We do not operate any account system, and the app does not transmit your dive data to Abyssi or to any third party.

  • No analytics SDKs. The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or attribution SDKs.
  • No account, no login. You use the app without creating an account.
  • Bluetooth pairing. If you choose to import dives from a dive computer, the app communicates with that device over Bluetooth Low Energy. The dive data read from the computer stays on your device.
  • Sharing & export. When you export a dive log (PDF, UDDF, dive card image, etc.) or share it via the iOS share sheet, the destination is chosen by you and governed by that destination’s privacy policy.
  • Crash & usage reports. If you opt in to share diagnostic data with developers through iOS Settings, Apple may forward anonymised crash reports to us. This data is governed by Apple’s privacy policy and contains no personally identifiable information.

The information collected by this website (described below) is separate from the app and is only collected if you interact with the website.

Information we collect via the website

Information you provide

If you sign up for the Abyssi beta, we collect the email address you submit, along with the date and time of signup and the page or campaign that referred you (the “source”). We do not ask for your name, location, or any other personal details at signup.

Information collected automatically

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate traffic to the site. Cloudflare Web Analytics is privacy-first: it does not set cookies, does not fingerprint visitors, and does not collect personal data such as IP addresses for the purpose of identifying you. See Cloudflare’s documentation for details.

The site is served via Cloudflare, which may briefly log standard request metadata (such as IP address and user agent) for security, abuse prevention, and reliable delivery. This is governed by Cloudflare’s own privacy practices.

How we use your information

  • To send you beta access invitations, product updates, and launch announcements.
  • To prevent duplicate signups and abuse of the signup form.
  • To understand, in aggregate, which pages visitors find useful so we can improve them.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

How we store your information

Beta signup emails are stored in Amazon Web Services (AWS) DynamoDB in the United States. Access is restricted to a small number of Abyssi operators. We retain signup records for as long as you remain interested in receiving Abyssi communications; you can ask us to remove your record at any time (see “Your choices” below).

Third-party services

The website relies on the following third parties:

  • Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery, and privacy-friendly analytics.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) — storage of beta signup records.

These providers act as our processors and handle data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments.

Cookies

This website does not set advertising or tracking cookies. The site may use a small number of strictly-necessary cookies set by Cloudflare for security and performance.

Your choices

You can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you (including removing your email from the beta list) by emailing hello@abyssi.io. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR (EEA/UK) or the CCPA (California); we will honour those requests in the manner the law requires.

Children

Abyssi is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use industry-standard safeguards (encryption in transit, access controls, managed cloud infrastructure) to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to reduce risk.

International users

If you access the site from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the site you consent to that transfer.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, if appropriate, notify beta subscribers by email.
